Product Manager job description
A product manager job description template you can adapt for B2B SaaS, consumer, or platform roles — with a clear bar for strategy and execution.
About the role
We're hiring a Product Manager to own a core product area. You'll set the strategy, define the roadmap, and partner with engineering and design to ship work that moves real business metrics — not just shipped features.
What you'll do
- Own strategy and roadmap for your product area, grounded in customer evidence and data
- Write crisp PRDs and lead scoping with engineering and design
- Define success metrics up front and report against them honestly
- Talk to customers every week and turn what you hear into prioritized work
- Partner with go-to-market on launches, positioning, and adoption
What we're looking for
- 4+ years as a product manager shipping software products
- Strong written communication and a high bar for clear thinking
- Comfort with data: you can write a SQL query or pull your own analytics
- Track record of shipping work that moved a meaningful business metric
- A taste-driven approach to product — you have opinions and defend them
Nice to have
- Experience in B2B SaaS, AI, or developer-tools categories
- Prior engineering or design background
- Experience leading 0→1 product launches
Compensation
$150,000 – $210,000 base + equity (US, remote)
